Mating Habits of the Earthbound Humanby Ralph Willett I have to admit that I love my Xbox 360 even though I've never played a game on it. The reason I bought a used Xbox was specifically to stream movies from Netflix. This has worked better than I had ever hopped even allowing me to drop my satellite dish with it's DVR. I can flip through thousands of movies instantly at any time never having to worry about schedules or setting a DVR recorder. One of the great gems I stumbled upon was the 1999 rated “R” romantic comedy titled “Mating Habits of the Earthbound Human” staring Carmen Electra and Mackenzie Astin. Netflix has a rating of 2 and ½ stars but for laughter I'd give it a solid 4. In my mind I'm not sure what would qualify as a 5 star movie but this one would have been close for me. The movie was written in documentary style in the order of what you may see regarding African lions but from the perspective of an extraterrestrial anthropologist. From the first pick-up line right up to the marriage and baby, the scientist view of human mating behavior was quite humorous. I found myself laughing almost in spite of myself at familiar but also perplexing situations we as human species find ourselves in. For example: meeting the parents. One set of parents seems almost normal until you see the father cleaning his guns and threatening by innuendo to put an end to this budding romance. The other set of parents are complete drunks but nice enough that the girlfriend likes them. My wife was at first hesitant at watching a rated “R” movie but found this comedy to actually be quite funny. The adult situations were handled tastefully and with humor. The nudity was minimal and the language was tame by most standards. At no time did I find myself uncomfortable watching and actually recommended it to several friends the following day at work. If you enjoy romantic comedies, “Mating Habits of the Earthbound Human” should be on your must watch list. This Movie can be streamed to your Xbox from Netflix
